A winter storm warning is in effect for Long Island beginning noon Tuesday and lasting through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Possible accumulations of up to 13 inches are expected for the North Shore of Nassau County, according to The National Weather Service — 3 to 5 inches during the day, with another 4 to 8 inches falling overnight.

Higher snow accumulations are expected for eastern Long Island.

Due to the pending severe storm tomorrow, St. Mary’s High School will close at noon. All after school activities are cancelled. Students should report to school in the morning at the regular scheduled time.
