Manhasset High School seniors Alexandra Pidejian and Joseph Tripodoro were recognized as Outstanding Physical Education students at the recent Nassau Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance’s Awards dinner. Held at the Crest Hollow Country Club, this annual event honors one female and one male student from each high school in Nassau County.
Award recipients are selected each year based on their demonstration of the New York State Learning Standards for Health and Physical Education. The athletes must exhibit a physically active lifestyle in and outside of school, exemplify qualities of good sportsmanship and responsible behavior, act as positive leaders among peers, value healthy lifestyles, display exceptional achievement in physical education classes and perform at high levels on a fitness test.
