Manhasset Lakeville (M-L) Fire Department is hosting an open house for new volunteers at the local Company #1 (Bayview Avenue) and Company #2 (behind Macy’s) Fire Houses. The volunteer fire department open the doors and fire truck bays to Manhasset residents as part of the statewide volunteer firefighter recruitment effort. There will be tours of the firehouses and fire apparatus. Visitors can try on turnout gear and experience activities throughout the firehouse. Members will discuss the rewards and responsibilities that come with being a volunteer firefighter, as well as conduct demonstrations, answer questions and let visitors know how to go about joining the M-L fire department. The open house takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
