Jim Smith Honored By Town Of North Hempstead

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth held a Veterans Advisory Committee meeting at Town Hall and welcomed local author and former Newsday reporter Jim Smith, who discussed his recently released book Heroes to the End, which tells the story of his 1971-1972 tour of duty in Vietnam. TownNews_031616AThe book is based on more than 75 articles that Smith wrote for the Stars and Stripes daily newspaper in 1972 during the North Vietnamese Easter Offensive. All proceeds from the book go to benefit the United Veterans Beacon House, where Smith serves as a board member and works to provide housing, job opportunities and more to veterans.
