Frolic Captures The Creativity

Parents of this year’s Class of 2018 Frolic truly outdid themselves with the sets of Disney’s Pixar movies theme. With dozens of films to choose from, the sets that were created were as incredible as the Manhasset High School Class of 2018.

As students were dropped off that evening, they were greeted by the Pixar logo with the signature white desk lamp lit. Thanks to event chairs Oriana Cypress, Seval LaRocca and Chris Jones, along with the monumental efforts of senior high school students’ parents, the Manhasset High School gymnasium was turned into scenes from successful Pixar films.

As the graduates and guests walked into the building, they entered a scene in A Bug’s Life and entered the building to view Inside Out where they confronted the images of the schools they all came from, the familiar Manhasset stores and places they frequented and the fun they had at the SCA Fair.

Upon entering the gym, Gusteau’s Restaurant from Ratatouille came to life with cafe style seating, and a kitchen (minus the rats cooking) was awaiting. Comfy couches were ensconced inside. A Buzz Lightyear booth and Woody cut-out provided a nice backdrop and photo opportunities. Video games, a huge foosball table and high-tech 3D glasses provided a virtual reality that made the kids feel like they were out of this world.

The dance floor brought to life a scene out of the movie Finding Nemo with Peach, the starfish, welcoming you to her “happy place” on the dance floor and Chase B, the special guest entertainer. There was a race car driving nearby from the movie Cars. The care and attention to detail for each movie was amazing. Scenes from Up, Monsters Inc. and The Incredibles were fantastic.

“The Frolic continues to be one of my favorite Manhasset traditions,” said Cypress.

“It was a pleasure working with Oriana and Chris, reliving the magical years of the senior youth through all the Pixar movies,” said LaRocca. Each year, the class parents put together the frolic as a final gift to the graduating class. “It is bittersweet,” said La Rocca.

Congratulations to the parents of the Class of 2018, the Frolic is surely one for the memory books. According to Stella Binaris, the senior class will receive a 50-page magazine highlighting the night’s party as a memento.
