fireThe Lakeville/Manhasset Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 1111 Marcus Avenue, Building 6 in New Hyde Park on Christmas Day.

Police say at 2:30 p.m. nine fire trucks and approximately 40 fire personnel arrived at the location where they discovered the fire had been extinguished by a fire suppression system in the building.

The fire was contained to one room and originated in a garbage pail at one cubicle station in that room, but the entire building sustained extensive water damage from the sprinkler system.
