Charles “Chuck” Karen

Firefighter, Police Officer, Husband, Father, Friend
The officer’s and men of Company #2 Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department regret to announce the untimely passing of Firefighter Charles “Chuck” Karen. Chuck joined Company #2 on Aug. 8, 1991. Valiantly he served the community of Manhasset for over 24 year. Professionally, he was a police officer with the New York Police Dept. 73 Precinct and responded to the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Tireless hours he spent not only at ground zero but at the Fresh Kills site sifting through wreckage. Three years ago Chuck was diagnosed with cancer which he contracted from his response. He never gave up his fight and he never asked for assistance. As a matter of fact he was more interested in still helping others regardless of his deteriorating health.
On Nov. 4, Chuck lost his battle to cancer. Chuck leaves behind his wife Tina and two young boys, Charles (age 9) and Dominic (age 4) Everything he did was for his family and friends. It was his nature to help others, selflessly.
ObitKaren_120915BThe men of Company 2 are now asking for your help. We have created a “Go Fund Me” to establish a college fund for his young boys. We hope that you can find it in your heart during this holiday season to help a family that has given so much to our community. To donate please visit or google “Go Fund Me Chuck Karen”
