
Six businesses in Manhasset reported burglaries that occurred during the last two weeks of October and early November. The Nassau County Police Department made an arrest connecting an individual to at least three of the burglaries, and six others that happened on the North Shore. Peter Granath, 28, of Mineola was arrested on Nov. 4 at 12:45 a.m. in Manhasset and was charged with nine counts of burglary in the third degree and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Granath was arrested after police saw him occupying a vehicle that matched the description of one used in several burglaries in the area. Police also found him to be in possession of illegal narcotics. During the arrest processing, police say they determined the defendant was responsible for nine burglaries of commercial buildings on the North Shore of Long Island.
The Flower Shop, 61 Plandome Rd., called police on the morning of Oct. 17 to report a burglary. The Flower Shop was broken into through the back door and the assailant was wearing a mask and hoodie while going through every drawer and also breaking the register to steal around $500.
The same night the Flower Shop was broken into, the Manhasset Animal Hospital at 41 Plandome Rd. also had a break in and reported a burglary the following morning. Granath was not charged with the burglary of the animal hospital, as of yet, and police would not say whether the two burglaries were connected.
Granath was also charged with the burglaries of Refresh Nail n Spa, 27 Plandome Rd., that occurred on Oct. 24 according to police and with the most recent burglary of CrossFit Nine7 at 97 East Shore Rd. that occurred on Nov. 3.
Along with the animal hospital burglary, Granath has not been charged or connected with burglaries of Dun-Rite Tailors and Cleaners at 7 Bayview Ave. that occurred either Oct. 24 or 25 and the burglary of Umberto’s at 429 Plandome Rd. on the night of Oct. 24.
Granath, however, was also charged with the burglaries of the following businesses on the North Shore:
