Jennifer Kent and five Munsey Park Elementary School students were honored at the Town Board Meeting by North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Board. Sarah Chan, Kayla Hsu, Heather Nunez, Rendie Zhang, also students at Munsey Park Elementary, were among the Earth Day Design winners.

Sixteen students from six local school districts were honored for their designs. The 16 winners were among 150 students from grades 4 through 12 who submitted entries in this year’s Earth Day T-shirt Design Contest. This was the tenth year that the Town has conducted the contest to mark Earth Day. This year’s contest asked the students to use the slogan “Slow the Flow,” to raise awareness of water conservation.

The Grand Prize winner was Jennifer Kent, a Munsey Park Elementary sixth grader. Fifteen students were awarded honorable mentions.

Four thousand T-shirts were created with the winner’s artwork and will be distributed throughout the town at school and community clean-ups this month.
