2016 Brine National Lacrosse Classic

brinelax_082416bGeorge Moschos, son of Alex and Olga Moschos and a soon-to-be 11th grader at Paul D. Schreiber High School, has been named as a 2016 Brine National High School All-American and has also been selected to represent Long Island at the 2016 Brine National Lacrosse Classic to be held at the River City Sportsplex in Virginia from July 19 to 22, 2017.

The Brine National Lacrosse Classic brings the top high school lacrosse players in the nation to one venue, where regional teams will compete for national recognition in front of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) lacrosse coaches.

brinelax_082416cMoschos and his teammates from Long Island won the High School Boys Division at the Brine National Lacrosse Classic in Virginia, where teams from more than 15 states competed for the honor.

Long Island jumped to a quick 4-0 lead and defeated Maryland, 7-3, to claim the High School Boys’ Brine National Lacrosse Classic championship at the River City SportsPlex.

Moschos had five saves in the second half in both the semifinal and final for Long Island and teamed with 2018 JC Greenblatt (Massapequa) to form a standout 1-2 combo. Overall, the Long Island goalies yielded only 20 goals in pool play, the fewest of any team in the HSB Division. Moschos had 30 saves overall.

brinelax_082416a“It was amazing playing for the best coaches and playing with a great group of guys,” said Moschos. “We came together as a team and from a 7/8 seed to finish first. What a great run with great teammates.”

As a result of winning this event, the boys that represented Long Island will be playing a Canadian National team in the Brogden Cup at the University of Tampa in Florida the first week of January.
