Think Before Grilling

With the summer barbecue season here, this is the perfect time to review some common grilling safety techniques.barbecue_grill Each year, numerous people are injured as a result of gas grill fires and explosions. In fact, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an average of 8,900 home fires are caused by grilling on an annual basis.
Here are some things grillers should know before inviting friends and family for a barbecue this season.
Before Using The grill
Check the major connection points between the propane tank and the regulator and cylinder to make sure they are tight.
When The Grill Is On
If there is a gas smell turn off the gas tank and burners.
If the smell continues, move away from the grill and call the fire department immediately. Do not move the grill.
General Safety Tips
Propane and charcoal barbecue grills should only be used outdoors.
The grill should be placed well away from the home and deck railings, and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
Keep children and pets away from the grill area.
Keep the grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.
Never leave the grill unattended.
