Located less than 20 miles from Manhattan, Manhasset is home to the Plandomes including Plandome, Plandome Manor and Plandome Heights, Munsey Park, North Hills and Flower Hill. Featured in films like Miracle on 34th Street and The Wolf of Wall Street, on television favorites like Saturday Night Live and Everybody Loves Raymond and most notably known for being referred to as “East Egg” in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Manhasset houses the Americana Manhasset and the Miracle Mile portion, which is referred to in Billy Joel’s hit “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.”

While Manhasset is known for its famous features, residents know Manhasset for its bustling Plandome Road, family-friendly Mary Jane Davies Green and excellent school district. Residents explained for themselves why Manhasset was so special to them.

Barbara Donno, Mayor of the Incorporated Village of Plandome Manor

“I have lived in Manhasset for 36 years where my husband and I raised our family and made lifelong friends. Its location, the schools and most important the people who live and work here make this town a very special place with a wonderful sense of community.”

Michelle Dell’Aquila, Early Childhood Specialist

“Manhasset offers a wonderful sense of community, pride, caring neighbors and family values. An amazing neighborhood to raise a family!”

Dr. Vincent Butera,Superintendent of Manhasset Schools

“The Manhasset community and school district is unique. Not unlike most successful organizations, there is a commitment among staff, parents, and community members
to continue to find ways to strengthen the experience for each and every child fortunate
enough to be able to call Manhasset their home.”

Madeline Singas, District Attorney of Nassau County

“I am proud to call Nassau county my home. The richness of culture permeates through everything from food, to lifestyle, to events, and to our schools. My family takes full advantage of Manhasset’s proximity to the city, the beach, the parks and retail centers. My children are surrounded by people who care about them and are enriched by all the amazing people they meet.”

Elizabeth Johnson, Manhasset Press Editor

“Manhasset is a special place. It is full of proud people who have worked hard to make it a special place. The people value the hometown spirit and beauty of the town with Plandome Road being Main Street USA and Northern Boulevard being glamorous like Fifth Avenue in New York City. With the SCA Fair, Harvest Festivals and summer concerts in Mary Jane Davies Park, Manhasset has it all.”
