The Manhasset Community Fund (MCF) has for 71 years gathered and provided grants to support the organizations that provide vital services to the Manhasset community. Under the direction of Iliza Bartels and John Morris, who are copresidents of the MCF, the group reviews applications and awards grants to provide much needed monies to key community organizations which support the area.
The mission of the Manhasset Community Fund is to bring needed support and services to the residents of Manhasset through raising funds for the charities that serve the residents of Manhasset.
The Manhansset Community Fund also serves, from time to time, as a source of funds for emergencies facing those charities.
On Friday afternoon, June 16, the 2017 recipients were invited to Greentree, the Whitney estate, to enjoy a tour of the estate and receive their award. The applications are scrutinized with care by the MCF Board and determinations are made as the size of the grant. This year recipients are:
• Adventures in Learning—safe afterschool educational care
• Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS)—bullying and harassment education
• Great Neck-Manhasset Community Child Care—training for local preschool educators
